Gentle gum care and preventative treatment.
Our experienced hygienists at Sundial Dental can help prevent and reverse gum disease (gingivitis) before it turns into a disease of the bone around the tooth (periodontal disease).
At Sundial, our focus is on preventative care for the whole family. During comprehensive check-ups we aim to catch any developing issues before they need extra work.
If you do have gum disease, Sundial Dental is pleased to offer LANAP laser gum treatment which provides a more precise, less invasive alternative to gum surgery with many benefits including a quicker procedure, faster recovery time and prevention of tooth loss.
Causes of gum disease.
Gum, or periodontal, disease has many contributing factors.
Factors such as genetic makeup (some people are more likely to develop gum disease), oral hygiene (brushing and flossing), nutrition, stress, some medications and diabetes are some of the many causes of gum disease.
Over time, the bacteria that cause gum disease will cause loss of attachment of the gums from the tooth. This deepens the space between the gum and tooth and produces what is called a ‘periodontal pocket’.
After a pocket develops, unless treated, it will progressively deepen and will affect the bone support of the teeth. Ultimately, the teeth will loosen and may need to be extracted.
For the very best prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gum disease call Sundial Dental for a consultation or visit our Lanap Laser Gum treatment page or www.lanapaustralia.com.au for treatment of more severe forms of gum disease [Periodontal disease.]
